Still considering options for the countertops. Unwilling to spend the multiple thousands for slab granite or slab stone of pretty much any kind...I've reconciled myself to large tile with itty bitty grout lines. My home improvement Santa set me a mission to fine cabinets for the island, and after finally finding a day to do some in-person shopping, landed a semi-stellar deal on a some plywood box cabinets with solid mahogany doors. Sweet! They assembled them for me while my friend and I sat and chatted. Then, came time to load into the trusty jeep...do'h! A wee short on space. No problem! we convinced them...and, Heidi helped hold the 4'x8' sheet of facing in place with her lovely cabeza!
